Maurice Watson Biography
Pastor Maurice Watson was born the seventh of eight children to Ulysses and Juanita Watson on July 21, 1960, in Little Rock, Arkansas. At the young age of 16, he accepted the call to preach the gospel and two years later was ordained. His first pastorate was at St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, where he served for seven years.
In November 1988, at the age of 28, Pastor Watson accepted the call to pastor the Salem Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska, where he served for 15 ½ years. Salem’s membership grew from 1,200 to more than 3,500, and the ministry was able to move into a new 42,000 square-feet, multi-million dollar facility in January 2000.
In early 2004, sensing a new call of God on his life, Pastor Watson accepted the senior pastorate of Beulahland Bible Church in Macon, Georgia. God opened the windows of Heaven and began to pour out blessings upon this ministry. Using Pastor Watson as a vessel, God has been able to touch the hearts of many... causing Beulahland to grow tremendously. With the primary goal of fulfilling the Great Commission, Pastor Watson led Beulahland to start a second location of worship in Warner Robins, Georgia in February 2005. After 6 months, the church is building a new worship facility in Warner Robins.
In addition to this pastoral calling, Pastor Watson also has a dynamic itinerant preaching ministry that extends across the continent and globe. He has been described as one of the premier preachers of our generation. He is well known and sought after for his anointed proclamation of God's Word. In 2002, he served as the morning worship preacher at the Annual Hampton Ministers’ Conference, where he also served as the conference preacher in 2005.
Pastor Watson is motivated by his love for people, his love for preaching, and his belief that no one is beyond God’s reach. “I was born- put on this Earth, in the Universe, to be a preacher, teacher, and pastor of people. Seeing people helped and seeing lives transformed through what God has to say through me motivates me. It’s my purpose for being alive.”
